What happened
Hammer sells earbuds, headphones and smartwatches at accessible prices, mostly online. Indian consumer audio is intensely competitive, with brands sourcing similar products from the same manufacturers and fighting on price, design and marketing.
The deal gave away a large share of equity relative to the cheque — a sign that investors saw meaningful risk in a crowded category. In such markets, brand, distribution and after-sales service matter more than specifications.
On Shark Tank India Season 1, Hammer Lifestyle closed a deal of ₹1 crore for 40% equity. The equity portion implies a valuation of about ₹2.5 crore for the business.
